Day Thirty-two

The defense rested the case today.  I thought the case would be over but now the state rebuttals the case?  I'm quite confused ha.

Some major points from today ... George Anthony (Casey's father) had an alleged mistress that testified.  Casey herself will not testify.  The state wants the jury to smell air samples from Casey's car.  And, I might add, the defense is not happy.

The final outrageous thing that happened was a man (28 years-old) held up his middle finger during court.  He was escorted out during trial & was questioned after the jury left about the "gesture" he used toward the prosecutor.  He was brought back in after the jury left.  The judge asked him why he used his middle finger & if he had any reason to do so.  He was charged with direct criminal contempt (I think that's what it was), sent to Orange County jail for 6 days, received a fine of $400 and has to pay a court fine of $223 over 6 months.  He appealed the charge but I don't see how the charge will be dropped.  Let that serve as a lesson to others, I suppose!

I know that some people (mainly my parents) this it's bizarre that I'm watching the trial so intensely.  But I don't remember the OJ Simpson trial/get to talk about it & this trial is being compared to that trial in many different ways.  So, I'm keeping myself entertained and hope it entertains others as well :)

Summer Readin'

Besides the sun, pool, beach and relaxing, I love the summer because I love to read and it's the perfect time to do just that.  It's so calming and enjoyable to sit back with a good book & get lost in another world.  It's one of the rare times of the year (besides Spring Break, Thanksgiving or Christmas) where you don't have too much to worry about.  One of my current favorite authors is Karen Kingsbury.  The books I have read by her are all so good!  I'm starting the September 11th Series as soon as I'm done with

I've heard amazing things about it.  Only on chapter two (HA) but I'm sure it will be fantastic.  The movie comes out August 12th, so I'm excited about that too.  I read

a few months ago but it was fabulous!  Definitely a recommended read.  While

The Hunger Games are a little different than the usual books I read, I enjoyed them!  The first book, The Hunger Games, has a movie in production and I'm excited for that as well.  Another ultimate favorite of mine,

is just amazing.  Such a roller coaster but it really is an amazing book.  Nothing else to really say about that one!  I also have a few ready to read ...
and
Both are by Kristin Hannah and both are about sisters.  I love reading stories about sisters, since I have two and now a sister-in-law!  I sure have a lot to read but I love it & cannot wait to dive in to The Help first.

Day Thirty-one

When I turned the news on this morning & saw that today is day thirty-one of the Casey Anthony trial, I was shocked!  I know I have been watching (a little too much) but I cannot believe how fast a month has gone by.  I honestly did not know how long the trial would last and it's still nowhere near over.  The defense has not rested their case and there is much more to be done once they do.

I think the defense is getting desperate because now they are pulling all sorts of "stunts."  Saturday court adjourned very early and the public was not told why.  Apparently the defense stated Casey Anthony was not mentally competent to stand trial.  Monday morning the judge addressed the claim first thing & explained that THREE different doctors examined Casey Anthony the previous Saturday and she was more than competent to stand trial.  The next thing the defense did was ask for a mistrial.  That obviously didn't go over well with the judge and he did not grant them a mistrial.  Then they asked for a new jury that was non death-qualified.  It's very sad to me but I think the defense is realizing that they are in t-r-o-u-b-l-e.

Let's see how much longer this thing lasts!

Fun with A & Picture Overload

Will's sister left today and we already miss her!  We had so much fun last week and weekend.  We worked out, played at Disney, ate a lot and caught up.  Friday night we went to Bahama Breeze for dinner.  It was pouring so our original plan to go to Downtown Disney for a movie was out of the question.  We headed home, hung out and made a plan for Magic Kingdom on Saturday.  After a long morning, we left at lunch time and came home.  We made it out right as the torrential downpour started!  We headed back after lunch and stayed until the light show and fireworks.  I have never stayed so long and it was more than worth it!  The shows were both so pretty and definitely one of the best firework shows I've ever seen.  Sunday we went to Sea World.  Will and I have year long passes so it's always fun/free for us if someone wants to visit Sea World.  We enjoyed the shows there too but the heat was a lot worse Sunday than it was the day before.  After another long day, we headed home to relax.  We didn't do anything exciting Monday since we were so worn out from the weekend.  I dropped A off at the airport today and it's already quieter around here.  Here are some pictures from the weekend!

After dinner & the rain

Waiting for "It's a Small World" per A's request

New shamu show, "One Ocean"

 Splash time

I always laugh at the tourists taking pictures and that's exactly what I did last weekend!  It was so much fun though and the new shamu show is much better than the old one.  I'm sure Will and I will be going to Sea World again soon ha!

I'm also waiting on A to send me more pictures!  Let's see if she comes through this time :)

Healthy Puppy

I took Brock to the vet last week to check out his skin/hair loss problem.  He LOVES the vet and is very misbehaved when we go.  However, he got a clean bill of health and is on his way to recovery.  The vet checked him out and told me he has some sort of fungal infection (which is easily treated & nothing to be alarmed about).  We received two different medications that should take a little over two weeks to finish and he'll be as good as new!  He was less than entertained with me trying to capture his chest and lack of hair ...

Already so much better than this!

Trying to get as far away from me as possible

Checking out ...

... for the week!  Will's sister comes tomorrow and we will be having lots of fun.  Too much fun for posting.  We plan to eat a lot, workout (some), go to Sea World, eat some more, head to the beach, hopefully go to Magic Kingdom and outlet shop.  I pick her up from the airport at 10:15 am, which means she has to get up super early since she's on central time.  Boo for that.  But stay tuned for lots of good pictures!  Besides picking up A from the airport, I'm taking this guy to the vet.

He has developed quite a sick intense skin infection.  He stayed at my parent's house for two weeks (so thankful for them keeping him) and managed to get some type of infection while he was there.  He plays outside, in the pool and sometimes the pond, so no telling what it is.  His hair has started to fall out under his chin/on his chest/on his elbows/most other places in little clumps and his skin is red and kinda blistery (sorry, so gross, I know).  I would post pictures but it's quite gross and doesn't photograph that well anyway.  Let's pray it doesn't cost us as much as I think it will.  You gotta love him and I feel so sorry for him :(

Thirty-two years

I made the terrible mistake of letting June 16th slip by without a very important post.  Will's parents celebrated their wedding anniversary!  Thirty-two years ago they got married and have been happy ever since, so happy anniversary!  To many more :)

Love this one

I must admit something that I am somewhat embarrassed about.  I didn't realize both of our parents were married in June!  Just goes to show you learn something new everyday.  I am so happy both are parents have served as excellent role models in marriage.  It has helped Will and I with ours and we look forward to many many more years together!!

Father's Day 2011

Happy Father's Day to the most amazing father a girl could have!  I love my daddy with all my heart and am so lucky to have grown up with him in my life.  My sisters and I have been so blessed with such amazing parents and daddy has taught me so many important, life lessons.  The rest of my family is visiting T in Houston this weekend, so I'm missing out on the celebration.  Hope you guys are having fun, love you Daddy!!

Beach Week

was a success!  I had been looking forward to beach week since September.  Long time, I know.  Embarrassing to admit, almost.  But it was worth the wait.  When I was in college at Auburn University, I was in College of Education.  Once you applied and were excepted, you were grouped in a cohort.  I LOVED MY COHORT!!!  We spent the last year and a half of college together, every class, most projects.  Once we graduated, it was apparent that keeping in touch would be hard.  So we decided to plan a "beach week" every summer.  There were 22 of us in the cohort and 5 made it to the beach last week.  I wish more had come but everyone is so busy.  Even though were were missing a majority of our cohort, we had lots of fun!  We spent time by the pool, mostly in it due to the heat and reading a lot of books.  I am already looking forward to next summer.  Or another wedding.  Whichever comes first :)

Pool view/don't mind me :) with all my sunscreen!

We had such a fun trip and I'm already looking forward to the next one!!

Sweet Husband

I have been away from my sweet husband for over two weeks (minus about 24 hours last weekend).  I was so so happy to see him last night and to spend some one-on-one time with him this weekend.  I had fun working camp and at the beach with my cohort friends (more to come) but definitely missed my honey.

Right after Will proposed <3 Oldie but goodie

I truly love my husband and cannot imagine spending anything less than the rest of my life with him.  "Unless it's mad, passionate, extraordinary love, it's a waste of time.  There are too many mediocre things in life - love should not be one of them."  Our love is definitely one of them ;)

Day Twenty-two

I am so sad to say I have been an unfaithful watcher of the Casey Anthony trial.  Two weeks ago I was in Tampa working and last week I was outside of Tampa at the beach with some girls from my College of Education cohort.  I was shocked to see that today was day 22 of the "case against Casey."  I will have to catch up on Monday and find out what has been happening!

Good Night ...

... for an engagement party!  Last weekend (6/11) my parents hosted an engagement party at their house.  Along with many other couples the party was able to be a huge success.  It was even more fun because the couple we were celebrating are good friends of Will and mine.  I grew up with the groom, was in Tri Delta with the bride and Will and I were actually introduced by the groom almost five years ago.  It was such a nice party!

We are really looking forward to the wedding in November!  W is working in Africa and S is moving there next month to teach.  We have missed him being so far away and it was so good seeing him and celebrating their engagement!

Camp

Last week I got to play with kids all week and I LOVED it!  It was my fourth summer as a camp counselor.  Not sleep away camp but a week long camp at a private school in Tampa.  I was lucky enough to be in charge of the "little boys" as we called them, rising kindergarten and first graders.  They sure kept me on my toes!  It was a fun filled week, ending with a water day Thursday and a talent show Friday.  Here is one entertaining picture!

The biggest boy of all in the middle, complaining about how they weren't moving very fast ha!

Twenty-six years

My sweet parents celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary Wednesday (June 8th).  Since my mom is always taking the picture and my dad is always ruining it, I made sure to snap one of them before they left for dinner.  I am so lucky to have parents that have been together for so long!  It has served as such a good model for my sisters and me.  I love them both and look forward to making it twenty-six years with Will!

Lucky Loo

Our family dog, Lucky, is getting up there in age.  We got him when I was in THIRD grade and he's still kickin.  He is definitely getting older though and it's very sad.  My younger sister, M, is especially sad about Lucky's age.  I'm in Tampa this week and Wednesday morning, we woke up to this ...

I thought something tried to get into the porch but my mom said Lucky tried to get out of the porch.  I asked her what made her think that and she told me she woke up to this and something else.  The something else was gone when I woke up but let's just say Lucky had not been feeling well and tried to get off the porch to relieve himself.  Poor Lucky Loo!
